Larry Zavadil and Justin Zavadil, father and son executives from American Solutions for Business, have been named to the 2015 Power 50, a listing of prominent executives in the advertising specialty market. The Power 50 was published in Counselor magazine's December issue with the statement: "These are the movers and shakers of the ad specialty market, helping to set the industry's agenda at the same time as being influential and successful players."

While the ad specialty market grew approximately four percent in 2015, American Solutions for Business has seen double digit growth for the same period.

As American Solutions for Business (American) approaches the end of its fiscal year in June, the company reports a 10 percent increase in invoiced sales over the same 10-month period last year, while the general trend for industry distributors is just over five percent.

Over 95 percent of American’s totals are derived from sales of printed products and promotional items. The print industry realized only a two percent growth in 2014, according to a report from Print Industries of America, a company that specializes in advocacy, education and research for the print industry. However, current trends are showing a more healthy increase in sales of printed products going forward. Growth in the promotional product industry has been stable at six percent per year over the past six years.

Justin Zavadil, Executive Vice President at American, sees the company's flexibility as a key to its strong growth. "A distributor needs to be able to change directions on a dime in order to fit the customers' changing needs. This is done through flexibility and innovation. We put the majority of our investment into the technology tools needed to secure enterprise business and to stabilize and grow the large program portion of our business."

American Solutions for Business (ASB) was recently ranked as the number one distributor in the industry by Print Solutions magazine, a publication of Print Services and Distribution Association (PSDA).

Results of the magazine’s survey ranked ASB number one overall and placed the Minnesota-based company in first place for total sales in six individual categories including: Direct Mail, Marketing & Creative Services, Traditional Products, Labels & Tags, Technology Services and Promotional Products. In sales of Commercial Print, ASB was ranked number two.

The article in Print Solutions indicated that respondents experienced roughly the same growth this year as compared to last year’s top distributor data. American Celebrates 30 Years in Business

American Solutions for Business, headquartered in Glenwood, Minnesota turns 30 years old this year. Although its founder, Larry Zavadil, began writing orders in January of 1981, the actual incorporation date was February 17 of that year.

In 1982, Larry hired his first employee, a neighbor who agreed to help out with the growing paperwork on a part-time basis. She worked out of the office located in the Zavadil home. Employees Donate School Supplies

August 30, 2011

Employees of American Solutions for Business have been busy collecting school supplies. Last Tuesday a group of individuals delivered the supplies to the Minnewaska Area Elementary School as a way to help students and to give back to the community. The drive was organized as a collaborative effort of the American Community Stewardship Team and the Fun Committee. Each month, the company focuses on a particular charitable cause and uses a variety of methods and volunteers to support that cause. American's upcoming September effort will include raising funds to adopt a family at Christmas; in October they will conduct an observance of military servicemen and women and November's focus will revolve around fund-raising efforts to prevent child abuse.

In the November issue, the magazine lists the top 100 print companies and includes a breakdown of leaders for total sales in four different product categories: forms, labels/ tags, digital print and commercial print. American was ranked as the number one distributor in three of those categories: forms, labels/tags and digital print; and was rated number three in the sales of commercial printing.

While many print distributors continued to face adversity due to a stalled economy this year, American Solutions for Business took action. ASB Solidifies Financial Position

ASB's Justin Zavadil Honored as 2010 Rising Star

Print Professional magazine recently named Justin Zavadil to their 2010 list of Rising Stars. The January issue featured seven individuals, all under the age of 40, who are using their talents and fresh ideas to improve the future of their respective companies and the face of the print industry.

Zavadil, 29, holds a BA degree from of the University of Minnesota. After graduation, he became an ASB Sales Associate and was named ASB’s Director of Vendor Relations in 2008. In this capacity, Zavadil works with manufacturers, sales associates and home office employees. He and his team manage ASB’s preferred vendor program, which provides exposure for all vendor participants and serves as a resource for American Sales Associates.

Ekstrand is a graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota and holds a degree in business administration and minors in sociology and economics. He has served as the district commercial manager for United Telephone System, a telecommunications manager for the State of Minnesota, a vice president and general manager for a local phone company and the president and CEO for Rural Cellular Corporation (RCC), a publically traded wireless service provider which he founded in 1990. RCC was acquired by Verizon in 2008.
